English band These New (*17*) will play at The Workman’s Membership in Dublin on Monday November 10, 2025.
The duo of dual brothers George and Jack Barnett, is due to launch their fifth studio album Crooked Wing on Might 23 through Domino Information.
The report is their first in six years and options contributions from singer Caroline Polachek and jazz bassist Chris Laurence.
Jack says the album started with a discipline recording of a church bell in Greece, which “set a lot of the album in movement.” As acknowledged by a press launch, the undertaking “ranges from the brutal to the attractive” and cements the band’s “fame for visionary music that defies categorisation and conference”.
Their newest single from Crooked Wing is ‘A Season in Hell’, that includes driving, aggressive drumming which contrasts sharply with the quiet, heavenly tone of the opposite tracks on the album.
Hailing from Essex, These New (*17*) are identified for mixing classical devices with digital manufacturing and industrial sounds. “We’ve all the time had that steadiness between the elegant and the filth,” says George, “music ought to circulate out of your life, it shouldn’t be a separate exercise.”
Crooked Wing is produced by Jack alongside Graham Sutton (Bark Psychosis), who reunites with the band after earlier collaborations on Hidden (2010) and Area Of Reeds (2013).
